Children nowadays are not fond of eating vegetables because of their taste. They prefer to eat sweets like chocolates, candies and ice creams. This is the reason why their health suffers. The researchers, made an alternative solution for them to eat nutritious foods. Since the children loved candies, the group made a candy that contains vegetables. In the group experiment there is a special thing that the kids will really loved because the researchers made a candy that their health wouldn’t suffer because the candy that the group had made contains vegetables. When the children eat the candy they wouldn’t notice that it contains vegetables because it doesn’t taste like one. The researchers make this experiment to make the children eat vegetables and at the same time eating their favorite food.
Statement of the Problem
The group would like to find out in their experiment which is better in terms of taste and sweetness, yema with calamansi extract or the yema mixed with malunggay extract?
The yema with malunggay extract is better than the one with calamansi because from being nutritious, it doesn’t loose its original flavor. Calamansi might make the yema sour, and that causes it to change its taste.
Significance of the Study
Children nowadays are experiencing malnourishment because of the fact that they are not fond of eating vegetables. Instead of eating nutritious foods they just eating sweets.
Sweets can be nutritious by just adding vegetables on it. The researchers made a candy that contains vegetable, to be an alternative solution to the problem of malnourishment in country. The group made the candy taste like the original yemas so that when the children eat it they wouldn’t notice that it contains vegetable.
It is clearly seen that even though candies makes children health suffer, they can also be a nutritious one by adding some nutritious foods on it like vegetables and fruits.
In this (investigatory project) experiment, this will help the children not to suffer their health.
Scope and Limitation
This study would experiment and observe on the characteristic of the two yemas, the malunggay yemas and the calamansi yemas. With this, this study is only limited on the observation and comparison of the taste emitted by these yemas, the taste of each yemas and their sweetness. It would more or less be determining which type of yemas is more sweet and more convenient and practical for all consumers especially the kids.
Definition of Terms
Egg- a small oval object with a thin hard shell produced by a female bird and containing a young bird.
Calamansi- a small evergreen citrus tree, the sour fruit of this plant, resembling a small tangerine and sometimes used as a flavoring or for beverages, sauces or marmalades.
Malunggay- is a tree found throughout the Philippines, including Mt. Banahaw . it is a common vegetable found in the market. They are a rich source of calcium and iron. The leaves are purgative and diuretic.
Condense- cow’s milk with sugar added, reduced by evaporation to a thick consistency, thick sweet milk that is sold in cans.
Review of Related Studies and Literature
Malunggay (horseradish tree)
Calamondin or Kalamansi (scientific name: Citrus ×microcarpa) is a fruit tree in the family Rutaceae,commonly known as the rue or citrus family, is a family of flowering plants, usually placed in the order Sapindales that was developed in and is very popular throughout Southeast Asia especially in the Philippines , where it is most commonly used for cooking. It is generally held that most species in cultivation are ancient apomictic hybrids and selected cultivars of these hybrids, including crosses with other genera such as Fortunella and Poncirus. The calamansî is usually described as a cross between Citrus reticulata (Tangerine or Mandarin orange) and Fortunella margarita.
The pectin content in fruit pulp is said to be beneficial in lowering blood cholesterol. The vitamin C content in lime increases the body's resistance to disease, aids the healing of wounds and prevents damage to the eyes. Vitamin C is also helpful in maintaining the health of the teeth and other bones of the body. It prevents decay and loosening of the teeth, dental caries, toothache, bleeding of the gums and fragility of bones.
The citric acid in limes has an alkaline reaction in the system which can relieve peptic ulcers. Few drops of warm lime-juice diluted with water should be instilled in the eyes in case of conjunctivitis. Its regular use with pure rose water in the ratio of 1:4 is helpful in preventing old-age cataract.
The lime juice is also excellent for weight reduction. Fresh juice' of a lime mixed in a glassful of water and sweetened with honey should be taken every morning on empty stomach in case of obesity. It contain limonene, this phytochemical are potent detoxifiers with anti-biotic effect that is protective against bacterial poisoning. The potent anti-viral properties in lime can kill cholera bacilli within a very short period of time.

2.) Separate the egg yolk to the egg white and mix the egg yolk and condense milk in a casserole.
3.) Then blend the malunggay in a food processor.
4.) After blending, put it in the casserole and mix well.
5.) If the mixture is ready, put in on fire. Stir it gradually until it turned in brown
6.) After cooking, cool it for a few minutes then mold it in circles.
7.) And its ready for wrapping using a cellophane.

2.) Then we will separate the egg yolk to the egg white,
after that we will put the egg yolk to the condense.
3.)Then we will grate the peeling of the calamansi and we will put it with the mixture and mix well.
4.) After mixing, put the casserole on fire.
5.) When the mixture is cooked, we will mold it in circle.
6.) After molding, we will now do the keeping. In doing the keeping, we will put the sugar in the casserole and wait until it caramelized.
7.) After caramelizing, we will put the juice of the calamansi.
8.) When its ready, we will wrap it using cellophane.
Analysis of data
The result of the experiment was that the group were able to make a yemas made of malunggay and calamansi. The yemas has a good taste, you will not even determine that it has vegetables. The respondents who taste our experiment preferred the letter A or simply calamansi because it has a good taste than that of the malunggay an it has a good sweetness that the respondents like. Also a good number of responds also preferred the one with malunggay. Hence, one could say that the yemas with calamansi are much yummier that that of malunggay.
There are differences on the two yemas that the researchers have made. In terms of taste and sweetness, many preferred the yema with calamansi. According to those who were able to taste the yema with calamansi extract, it tastes like any other ordinary yemas. The calamansi extract did not make the yema sour, and that caused it to taste like the original one. In totality, the yema mixed with calamansi is more successful than tha of the yema with malunggay.
Finding ways on how can children eat nutritious foods like vegetable and fruits is really hard especially when it doesn’t taste good or when the food is acrid. The group’s trial in making yema out of malunggay leaves and calamansi is a successful one for we were able to make it taste delicious and nutritious.
The researchers suggest that in the future experimentation use the malunggay/calamansi to make your candy more nutritious. The researcher recommend to use any other.
It is recommended that further study can be done along this line. The future researchers can use other materials and procedures. If finances can provide using of a flour and butter is suggested. Thru this, the actual taste of each yemas will have a very good taste.
The group suggest for those who will be interested to continue this experiment, to add some ingredients in the experiment to make it more challenging. Like for example, using the ingredients used in the malunggay yemas also in the calamansi yemas. Time in doing the experiment is recommended.
